Fortnite Audio Update Hear Revives Clearer

October 31, 2026 · 4 min read · Athlete Audio

This update brings a gameplay change that affects what you need to hear. When a teammate falls they drop a Reboot Card. You can pick it up and take it to a Reboot Van to bring them back into the fight.

Sound cues around a downed teammate, the card pickup and the Reboot Van matter more now because bringing a squad back can change the flow of a match. Focused audio makes those moments easier to act on.

Steps:

1. Read the update notes on the source page to see the mechanic in action.

2. Listen for where revives and reboot vans appear in your current play sessions to map the usual audio signatures.

3. Note which sounds are hard to hear on your headset so you can target them when tuning.

Why sounds matter

When a teammate goes down you get short windows to respond. The difference between hearing a distant pickup or missing it can decide whether you save the squad or lose it.

Clear audio helps you locate the Reboot Van and judge timing for picks without constantly switching visual focus.

Steps:

1. Prioritize clarity for mid and high frequency ranges where pickup and mechanical sounds sit.

2. Compare in game moments with and without voice chat to separate environment cues from speech.

3. Record a short clip of gameplay to replay and check which sounds stand out.

Hear footsteps clearer

Footsteps still tell you if enemies are closing while you escort a Reboot Card. If you miss footstep cues you can get flanked while carrying a card to a van.

Improving spatial cues and transient detail makes it easier to track movement while you watch for the card owner to return.

Steps:

1. Raise the frequencies that emphasize step transients in your EQ while keeping bass controlled.

2. Lower competing ambient layers like engine hums or music that mask footsteps.

3. Walk through common van routes in warmup to confirm footsteps become more audible.

Hear the revival play

The Reboot Card pickup and the Reboot Van have distinct sounds that you should be able to pick out from the environment and from voice chat.

Making those sounds clearer helps you decide whether to push, defend, or rotate away based on whether a squadmate can return in time.

Steps:

1. Identify the audible signature of the pickup and van in a quiet match instance.

2. Boost the midrange in a narrow band to make mechanical pickups cut through.

3. Test the change with a friend and note if you can detect the pickup from farther away.

Tune without fuss

You do not need new hardware to get better clarity. Small, targeted changes let you hear the moments that matter without overhauling your setup.

Steps:

1. Open your current EQ or audio profile and save a backup before making edits.

2. Apply a focused EQ boost in the midrange and reduce competing low end to improve pickup audibility.

3. Try a cloud tuned preset from Athlete Audio Labs to compare and revert if you prefer your original sound.

Set up for squad play

Squad play amplifies the need to hear both teammates and environment. Clear dialogue and environmental separation let you prioritize saves and rotations.

Practice standard routes to Reboot Vans and rehearse who carries the card so you can act on audio cues without confusion.

Steps:

1. Assign a teammate to call locations and practice short, consistent phrases for revive timing.

2. Run squad drills where one player drops and others locate the card by sound only.

3. Save a preset for squad sessions so you can switch quickly between solo and squad audio needs.

Updates that change how a match flows make audio tuning more important. When revives and Reboot Vans matter, you want every cue to be clear and actionable.

If you want to test a live tuned profile quickly, Athlete Audio Labs Cloud Edition runs in beta and provides guided presets and custom tunes you can try on your headset.

Steps:

1. Try the tune live in a low risk match to confirm it improves the cues you care about.

2. Iterate on the preset after a few matches to fine tune what you hear.

3. Consider a custom per player tune if you want a profile built for your headset and play style.
